Capycore!

(Originally written early 2023)

What does mecore/mecoded mean? It follows the trend of naming various aesthetic trends -core; Kidcore, weirdcore, etc. This is basically a weird way of saying something is a thing I like or has "me" vibes. Technically, everyone has their own "mecore" (or "youcore" in this case), but I exclusively talk about myself when I use it (lol). So for now on it'll just be called Capycore.

So what are some Capycore things?

  • Rodents (DUH!!!)
  • Rabbits (not rodents, FYI!)
  • Unicorns
  • Cows
  • Deer
  • Ungulates (goats, sheep, etc.)
  • 5th generation video game graphics
  • Mascots With Attitude platform games
  • Web 1.0 (DUH!!!)
  • Memphis pattern
  • Y2K aesthetics/electronics
  • 00s and earlier digital art (think DeviantART/Yerf/Elfwood/etc.)
  • Mascots and animatronics
  • Beatrix Potter (DUH!!!)
  • Neopets and early/mid-00s pet sites
  • My Little Pony
  • Namco
  • Fire Emblem
  • Psychosexuality/diet Sexology
  • Gross-out humor (*sigh* sorry, I grew up on Nickelodeon -_-;)
  • Word salads
  • Run-of-the-mill millennial teenager insanity

But what does mecoded mean?

It's when something only half-fits. It's like a divergent form of youcore, it's not quite you but it would be if things were slightly different. But it's not-not you. It's coded. Like how a character in media would be culturally coded as something (ex. ethnicity or sexuality coding), but not a literal portrayal of it, and they're not always accurate if written by someone in an outsider demographic. But the ingredients are still there.

Examples of things that are Capycoded but not quite:

  • Five Nights at Freddy's
  • Furbies
  • MS-DOS
  • Aeromorphs
  • Pooltoys
  • Happy Tree Friends
  • Redwall
  • Warrior Cats
  • Flight Rising (didn't like it)
  • Most anime (I'm weebcoded but not an actual weeb -_-;)
  • Jordan Peterson (would be Capycore in an evil male AU)
  • Undertale/Deltarune
  • Cave Story (very hard!)
  • MOTHER series (never finished a game yet)
